Sprint Canoe & Kayak

We strive to offer programs to suit all paddling abilities and levels of comfort on the water.  All youth are welcome, we have something for everyone!

FUNdamentals

Open to co-ed participants ages 7-13

This program is designed to explore how, above all else, paddling is a diverse and FUN sport that can be taken anywhere!  No prior paddling experience is required; just a positive attitude and willingness to listen, learn, and have fun participating in physical activity and sport.  Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for regattas.  This is a safe place for people of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities!

Spring: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-5 pm

     Session 1:  May 2-26

     Session 2:  May 30 - June 23

Summer: Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-5 pm

     Session 3: July 5-28

     Session 4: Aug 9-Sept 4

Participants may sign up for one day per week or multiple!

Women on the Water

Open to anyone who identifies as a girl, ages 7-15

The goal of this program is to build strong relationships for young women to participate in many types of paddling. Younger paddlers will be paired with older paddlers to learn together and practice in an inclusive environment. Experience is an asset, but not required. Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for regattas. All girls are welcome, including persons from the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities!  

Summer:  Mondays 3:30 - 5:00 pm

     Session 4: August 8-29

Sprint Development Program

Open to co-ed participants ages 11-13 WITH PADDLING EXPERIENCE

      and ages 13-18 with or WITHOUT experience 

This is a safe and fun atmosphere for young athletes to learn physical literacy through a paddling sport and team atmosphere. The club has flatwater kayaks, canoes, outrigger canoes, and team boats to improve personal skills and techniques. Each practice will start with a team dryland warm up, such as a run, followed by a stretch, then move to the water for drills, practice races, and cardio workouts.  

Participants are expected to attend at least one regatta.  Regatta schedule can be found on the CKBC events calendar

Season:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays 3:30 - 5:00 pm April 1- Sept 1
